Blog Post #6

So far my experience with Diigo has been mostly positive. It all works well and I haven't had any technical problems. I like being able to save and share bookmarks easily, and it is cool to see all of the sites my class mates have found. I struggle to think of ways I can use this in my day to day life. I think I may use this tool in the future to share resources with my co-workers. It has been a neat tool to mess with, but I am not sure if I will find a practical application for this.

I enjoy blogging more than I thought I would. Normally, I find activities like this to be cumbersome and I write them off. However, since I started my education degree, I have found these assignments to be much more engaging and helpful. They help me to reflect on the value of a tool, my own thoughts, and even my educational philosophies. I value any chance to reflect and I think I may continue to blog even after this class is over.

A Web 2.0 tool I hope to take advantage of in my classroom is Kidblog. This is a neat service that lets students create blogs and write for an actual audience. The website mentions that these blogs can be broadcast to just your district or worldwide. That is one of my favorite things about this site. It allows the student to share as much or as little as they want. Students do not have to write for a huge audience, but they can. It is very formal and has many quality of life features that I think would make running a blog much easier. It is the perfect site for students to post their creative writing on, or keep a blog throughout the year talking about how their writing skills have improved. I'm not sure what assignment I would use this for just yet, but I have plenty of ideas for ways to use this site.
